Bra & Lingerie Sewing Course

What will you learn? Everything!

At the end of the week, you will take home 5 sewing patterns with multiple sizes and 5 - 6 boutique lingerie/swim/bra pieces. This extensive workshop is designed to teach students all about wirefree bras, bralettes, lingerie, swimwear, corset, bustier and wired bra making, the fabrics, elastics general ins and outs. So you learn it all!

During the week you spend with us, we will cover each area of lingerie, bra and swim sewing, teaching you the neccessary skills needed to make your own professional lingerie and swimwear. We discuss fabric choices and where you can push your limits with them and where you cant. You will learn techniques for facing elastics, folding elastics, swimwear elastics, stretch fabrics, overlocking, pattern comprehension and ammending and we discuss bra fit and wire fit. You also receive a discount code for shopping after the course so you can stock up supplies for future sewing projects.

You will notice a crossover of pattern styles, this is so you can customise to suit yourself, and the more popular patterns may be listed a few times. If our set up doesnt suit you please email us and we will be able to assist you as long as we have drafted them in your sizing. As we are constantly creating new patterns, your selections can be changed at any time, even after purchasing the course. If selecting pattern collections, this will slightly increase the course cost and we can only make one item on the day from your pattern collection.

If you are running late on a particular project, we are happy to come in early the next day to catch you up, so there is no pressure to stay up to speed with other students in the course. Most projects are deisgned to get you to completion at the end of the day. Knickers days, you should get time to make two pairs, unless you have chosen a complicated pattern.

These Workshops are all inclusive. This includes the patterns, fabrics, hardware, boning (if applicable), underwires (if applicable) and tuition. Each pattern has a number of sizes included and students keep these patterns after each class day. Students may select the pattern of their choice from the drop down menu and if you change your mind, dont worry, just email us prior to the commencement of the course. We can also ammend your choices along the way if you want to. Please consider your sewing experience when making your pattern selections. It is recommended that you have some stretch sewing experience prior to booking this course. If you do not, please start with our lingerie course.

Kindly Note - We will provide helpful tips on bra/bustier fitting, however, we do not have time to custom fit during bra class or teach how to measure for a custom fit. Be mindful that whilst most people fit into standard bust sizes, not all do. On occasion, we may need to adjust the pattern once or even a couple of times to get a good fit after you have made your first bra or bustier. This means that bra class is about construction, not fit. 95% of students will walk away with a well fitting and comfortable bra and 100% will know how to bra make after this course, depending on your pattern choices. If alterations are needed to custom fit more to your requirements, we will make the adjustments to your pattern prior to you leaving each day or early the next day. We do this as a complimentary service to our students.

Each pattern you receive, will have many sizes included, and vilene is provided with every pattern, so you retain all sizes for later on at home. Please be aware, our patterns are not able to be used for financial gain, such as other classes or production, but you can most certianly make items for your loved ones and family!

The first day we have recommended our knickers bundle patterns, so you get a few styles in each pattern. On the day, you normally get through two styles depending on your sewing level. If you do not get through both, you still get to take home the rest of the kit and complete them another day or at home. We recommend materials that differ so we can teach a couple of methods, for example folding elastic and facing elastic finishes. 

The next few days has a variety of non-wired bra and bralette choices as welll as camisoles and swimwear options. We also offer sleepwear, such as the dream slip and Georgia boxers or bralette.

The last few days has many bra pattern options that are a bit more challenging. All are fun and rewarding projects, however if you wish to mix things up a bit, we dont mind customising the course to suit you. We also do not mind changing things around when you start the coiurse if you see something that suits you more. We are always launching more patterns too, so you may find new options after you book in and we can make the changes as you decide on them.

Information about the workshops

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to start time to set up your sewing machines.

These workshops are limited to a maximum of 5 students.

Sewing Workshop fees must be paid for at time of booking, not on the day of class, to ensure your seat is reserved. If bank transfer is the preferred payment method for class, the funds need to be transferred and cleared 4 weeks prior to secure a seat.

Your class fee covers tuition, kits, patterns with numerous sizes, order of assembly booklets, vilene and underwires/boning (where applicabe). 

Sewing Classes are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend a class, we would appreciate notice in advance. When appropriate notice is given, we will re-schedule you into another class date.  With that in mind, we understand that illness cannot be helped and in this case, we will do our best to transfer you into another one of our classes but we require a phonecall in these cases to rescedule.

We retain the right to cancel a class if the minimum required number of students is not met. In this instance as much notice as possible will be given and fees may be transferred to another class of your choice. 

Please note that there is a flight of stairs to get to the classroom.

Tea and coffee is provided.

What to bring to the sewing workshops

Your own sewing machine. Rental machines are available for those who require one and must be booked prior to class commencement.

Your sewing supplies - pins, scissors (paper and fabric), stretch machine needles, hand sewing needles, unpicker, bobbins, thread. Booby Traps sells scissors, unpickers, silk pins, needles both machine and hand and a large range of quality thread that you can purchase on the day.

A notebook to make your own notes on the day if desired, or you can make notes in your pattern booklets.

It is advisable for Saturday workshops students to bring their own lunch as we only stop for a short half hour break. The nearest food available for purchase is a short drive away.

We are at the of the cul-de-sac in Jubilee Avenue (western end). Go past Auto Barn and keep following jubilee around the bend - do not turn into the first Northshore Business Park sign as we are on the lower level.

If you are running late or lost, please give us a call on 02 8411 1984 so we know you are on your way.

Parking is available outside our warehouse and the class is up 1 flight of stairs. Please let us know if you need help getting your machine up the stairs.
