Tricot, Simplex & Nylon Mesh
Tricot, Simplex and Nylon Mesh (Denier) is recommended for bra cup linings and fabrics.
Nylon Tricot is one of the oldest and most popular lingerie fabrics. It comes in many weights, and although it is not thick, it is very supportive when used in bra making. It is fabulous for bra cups, as not only a lining but as an external cup, centre front and side fabric. Often used alongside lace, it is aesthetically pleasing as it is slightly shiny and has a pretty but fine ribbed effect. Ticot is lovely for knickers, nighties, slips, teddies and robes as it drapes beautifully and is lightweight to wear. Tricot often has a one-way stretch and can be doubled to provide additional support in bra making.
Double Tricot/ Simplex are a stronger alternative to tricot. These fabrics are thicker and are excellent for bra making for larger busts. May be used for control briefs, costuming and bustiers.
Nylon Sheer Denier is a fabulous fabric. Booby Traps recommends it as a lining in bra making to provide extra support to stretch laces and to create beautiful sheer bras. The Sheer Denier allows you show off your laces and cover seams that may irritate breasts for some people. We like to line our bra cups as we feel it creates a more professional finish.
