About Us

The Booby Traps Story....

WARNING!!!   Bra making is addictive!

Booby Traps was the first bra kit company worldwide and was first established in 1982 by Jill Bradshaw in Sydney Australia. We have many years of experience in bra making and drafting and provide good quality bra kits in a lovely range of colours and finishes and we have the largest self-owned lingerie pattern range. We really enjoy creating kits to suit many different tastes, and love sharing our knowledge and experience. We are excited to have been commissioned by Theatre and Television to make specific custom made lingerie and bras and have taught tertiary educators, high school teachers and HSC assessors in our workshops. We have had interstate and overseas students attend both our lingerie workshop and bra classes. We have assisted several small businesses with lingerie lines and small production.

Whilst we are a small business, we are a hard working one! Our team is small with Lynn the pattern-making/teaching guru, Dee the owner and Arne the pattern maker/teacher. We are a family owned and run business and have been proud to lift Jill's initial plan to the wonderful level we have achieved today. Many hours of hard work and effort go into running our small business and we thank you for your support.

Booby Traps supplies bra kits, supplies and patterns to sewing fans worldwide. As we are an Australian company, all our patterns are designed and labelled in Australian body sizing, but we have international conversion charts for overseas assistance. Our patterns guide you through how to assemble your chosen lingerie or swim item. They are packaged in a printed envelope to make storing your pattern safe and vilene is included for each pattern so you can trace your size. For digital copies please read the info on the Digital Pattern page.

We also have our own Booby Traps Bra making DVD's both older style and new style, with more to be launched in the future.

We are lucky enough to have some of our lovely customers modelling for the BT website. Yes, these girls are not professional! You would not know, as they look so fabulous showcasing the haberdashery and kits.

Booby Traps sells directly from our warehouse as a wholesaler to other businesses including swimwear, lingerie and bra-making small businesses. We also sell directly to the public and stock a number of bra fabrics, including Elastane and Powernet, folding elastic, facing elastics, bra strapping, underwires, molded cups, laces, fabrics, patterns, needles and other haberdashery items. Our haberdashery range is ever-growing and we love to offer a large variety of finishes and colours to accommodate many styles and projects.

The warehouse is set-up and conducts sewing classes and workshops on a regular basis. To see what classes we are currently running please visit our sewing class page.

Stay abreast, pardon the pun, of our newest releases, classes, and products by registering for our newsletter on our website.

Happy sewing!
